after having 3 kids graduate from Milton, I know what I'm talking about. Your children will be well prepared for college - mine all have excelled away from home, and 2/3 were students that have to work very hard. A school like Milton has the ability to offer niches for every student - the drama, theatre and arts department is unbelievable and is supported by the entire student body. The athletics remain strong-several state championships have been won, both while my kids were there and also after their graduation. Lets face it - nothing is perfect and our job as parents is to step back and let our children grow and prosper with our guidance FROM AFAR. Milton gives your kids that ability - there are some fine, fine teachers there and we were more than happy with the experience. I have found over the years that clingy parents only hurt their kids. Although Milton encourages parent involvement, we need to remember to let this be our kids' experience.

We purchased our home specifically for this school and could not be more disappointed. Much apathy from teachers and administration. My child was much more challenged in her former high school...especially in English. I'm really shocked this school has a "9" rating.

I'm a graduating student at Milton High School. So, some teachers are good and some teachers aren't. Most of them are pretty average. Kids are mean and spoiled from having the school system giving everything to them their entire lives. Almost all of them are liberal. Arts are good across the board. The integrated math sucks. The science program is good but the English program is very poor. You have to take higher classes (AP/Honors) to actually learn something interesting and the classes are rigged to the kids who've been in the system the longest.

Milton High School excels in all dimensions. Academically, the school has experienced helpful teacher. Numerous advanced and AP courses are offered. Exceptional extracurricular programs abound. The school also has the only public Cirque high school program in the country.

I absolutely love Milton. We are so strong all around: in fine arts, music, and sports! We also have so many diverse clubs and societies. There is so much talent not to mention support here from all the students. I can't think of a better school to attend.

We moved here from a top rated school in the northern suburbs of Chicago, choosing Milton based on graduation rates, test scores, course offerings, etc. .etc. Pretty disappointed. The fine art classes, the few they have left, are always "full" even for an upper class student. The math and science seem to have a large number of students who fail the courses each semester, and there is no college counseling department what so ever! It is run by parent volunteers.and one part time person with other responsibilities. You are virtually on your own for the college search beyond the scheduled college visits to the high school, I couldn't believe it. The positives are ... it is a safe and beautiful school, several of my children's teachers have been wonderful and gone above and beyond , their sports teams are constant state winners ( and some of the money that goes into the sports programs should be spent on fine arts and academic improvements) One exception is theater, they are very good and don't have a funding issue. There is virtually no photography, or art classes beyond basics.

Both of my daughters graduated from Milton High with honors and took the maximum AP classes allowed. The teachers that teach the advance courses are excellent. Both of my children were challenged in school and participated in activities and sports. It is very hard for your children to get involved because the competition for any club leadership position of sports slot is high. The staff was very supportive of my daughter who was more introverted and helped her find her way socially through club involvement and tutoring other children.

Milton is a great High School. My Freshman daughter was struggling in Math and Biology and the teachers made the extra effort to help her pull through...with additional tutoring, being avail for questions and communicating with us about her assignments, test reminders & progress via email. The atmoshere was a great experience for her as well, she made many friends inspite of her being shy. We are looking forward to next year.

Miltion is a terrible school with a terrible atmosphere surrounding it! The teachers are terrible, the students are terrible, and everything about that school is terrible. THIS IS THE LAST PLACE I WANT MY CHILD TO GO!

Milton High School is very traditional in that the teachers actually help the students by offering before and after school help. If a student is struggling, the teachers take initiative to help them out - personally. As of Fall 2008, Milton High School has inundated the school with Honour students and teachers who are more than willing to help the struggling student. They now offer, every Wednesday, 30 - 60 minutes of extra help in any subject that student is struggling in. It's teachers helping students and students helping students. The school now offers free tutoring from National Honor Students. This is where a student who excelled in say, Chemistry, will take time out of their schedule to help out another student who is struggling in Chemistry. This priviledge is offered in all subjects. Milton High School is absolutely undeniable.
